Soul food in Las Vegas? There’s no better way to be gluttonous than by digging into a plate of soul food, and afterall, Vegas is named SIN CITY, so some gluttony is in order! Las Vegas is known for its glitz and glam, luxurious hotels, and upscale nightlife and dining, but EarlyVegas.com and LasVegasSoul.com know that there’s no better way to preface a night out in Vegas or to cure a hangover than a good ol’ plate of soul food. Check out these picks for top 5 Las Vegas soul food restaurants to transport you to a Southern state of mind while visiting Las Vegas:

Gritz Café

The intimate setting for some cozy Southern Hospitality  makes this restaurant one of our Vegas favorites for soul food. Their Southern breakfast options, Lazy Lunches, and homemade desserts make this a top pick for soul food in Vegas. Finding Vegas cheap eats can be difficult with all of the tourism and high end hotels, but this Vegas restaurant gives you a solid bang for your buck. Our favorite dishes were the Grits Bowl specialty plate for Southern Breakfast ($6.50 and topped with an egg, cheese, and sausage or bacon), the  Po Boy Lazy Lunch (Fried Catfish on a 6 inch grilled hoagie roll served with lettuce, tomatoes, and special sauce), and the Peach Cobbler ($3.00) or Choco-Walnut Cookies ($2.50) for dessert.

EllaEm’s Soul Food

Inspired by the recipes of Ella Rea Gray, born in  Missisipi in 1913, her grandaughter, Aeum Upachack, Ella Rea Gray’s southern spirit alive through the EllaEm’s Soul Food restaurant in Las Vegas. For those looking for some authentic Southern cuisine cooked with fresh ingredients and true soul, head to EllaEm’s for your soul food fix. Our favorite entrees include the Smothered Chicken (baked chicken served with Granny’s Special seasoning and covered in gravy), the Red Snapper Fillet (fried or grilled with Granny’s Special seasoning) or the Country Fried Steak (seasoned & fried or with gravy). We especially love that each entree comes with a choice of 3 sides and cornbread!

Soul Food Cafe

If this complimentary corn bread doesn’t have you come back for a second visit, we don’t know what will. Located in the Southwest neighborhood of Las Vegas, this Sin City soul food restaurant is one of the best places to go for that Southern food craving fix.. It’s extremely hard to decide which plate was our favorite, but the BB@ Ribs with Yams, Fried Okra and Mac & Cheese or the Fried Catfish with Rice and Gravy, Mac & Cheese, an Hush Puppies stole our hearts. Finish your meal with the Peach Cobbler, and you’re bound to leave a happy camper.
